We all know that Olanzapine ( Zyprexa ) works well for some CHers as an abortive. Its an atypical antipsychotic and it acts on both the Dopamine receptors and the Serotonin receptors. There have been reports of other antipsychotics being used for CH with varying degrees of success such as Risperidal and Chlorpromazine. Lithium, an antipsychotic used to treat bipolar has been found to be an effective preventive for CH. In fact, Lithium - Verapamil combo is considered the gold standard in the treatment of chronic CH.

This article reports an incidental find of Clozapine, another antipsychotic , to be effective in an adolescent diagnosed with ( somewhat atypical ) episodic CH.
