Thanks Jill.
We're ok. My hands are getting worse and I've been told it's not carpal tunnel but pregnancy arthritis... Who'd have even thought such a thing existed?? I am here, just unable to post as much. Takes a long time!
My household has also come down with a nice stinking cold, so already, in our first year of married life, we're sleeping in separate beds!! ;) Getting up 8 times a night to pee and then trying to fall asleep with snoring like a jet plane (and coughing and spluttering but asleep thanks to Night Nurse!) is too much and I couldn't take any more.
To be fair, I don't leave a lot of room in our bed anymore and the fact that I'm about as graceful turning over and getting in and out of bed as a walrus on land doesn't help matters either.
And now today I have to go to the dentist and I hate it. I can't stand things in my mouth other than food and have a really weak gag reflex (another one of my weird little things - I can't eat with big spoons - I have to eat everything with teaspoons!). The thought of hands and mirrors and spiky things in there is enough to make me gag now.
On the plus side, we're 35 weeks + 4 days. In the safe zone, thank goodness. Baby can come out now any time it wants!

You can tell you two aren't married yet!!!
36 week check today. Everything is ok and baby is now 3/5ths engaged, so it's heading in the right direction thank goodness. I'm hoping we don't have too long to wait now. I am back to weekly checks instead of twice weekly as the risk of complications is now getting very small which is what we want.
Glad you enjoy my posts! I have to have a sense of humour about it all or I'd cry.
I'll try to update each day, though weekends are tough as it's the only chance Stephen and I get to spend some time together and we're trying to make the most of baby-free time.
xx

enjoy your baby free time as much as you can, but saying that when the baby is born all they really do is sleep and eat really so you have some suggling up time then.
Is Stephen having time off when the baby is here??
I hope you dont have to wait much longer i no how bugging it is waiting and it seems to take forever.
take care and make sure u check in every now and then xx

I remember the waiting too, but I wasn't anxious...as Em mentioned, at the time neared, I became terrified of actually giving birth...well she said the needle of epidural, but I got very frightened of the thought of it all.
One night they showed a bird's eye view of giving birth on film, I ate spaghetti that nite, and almost barfed. Im not sqeemish either...but THAT was about to happen to me!
I was thrown out of childbirth class by the way...for laughing...so then I was worried I wouldn't know what to do..
Somehow, it all came naturally...but as Tam advised, enjoy, your baby free time, it's all about to change completely...forever. Not a bad thing, but you are going to become a mother...quite a big role.
Glad ur doing well Em!

Hello,
Just checking in. All is well. We're starting to get the signs that it could be happening in the next couple of weeks, which is good news and actually, the closer I'm getting to the birth, the more I'm looking forward to it. Baby's head moved further down last night - I was having some major back ache and cramps so know thaat's what it is now. I was scared about the birth, but all that has passed now and I'm ready for it. I don't feel anxious or nervous or worried about anything at all. I feel calm and relaxed and ready to deliver. I've watched loads of labours too on Discovery (I like to be prepared) and actually it doesn't freak me out at all! I just figure if those ladies can do it, so can I.
Also, 2 ladies from my NCT group have had their babies this week - one totally natural water birth - 7lb 6oz girl called Matilda and the other an emergency c-section - 3lb 5oz girl born at 32 weeks (supposed to be a Christmas Day baby!) with no name just yet and all of them are doing well, even the tiny one who is apparently very small but perfectly formed and strong for a baby so little and her mum who fell ill quite quickly, hence the emergency delivery. So of our group of 5 who've bonded quite quickly and meeting up and getting to know each other, I am definitely next now for sure as the other 2 left are both Jan babies.
Stephen gets 1 day paternity for the birth. That's it - there are no maternity laws here in Guernsey. He does have a few days of holiday left to take though and has already agreed with his boss that he can have those, so we're hoping if we can time it right, he'll be off for a week with us.
Hands are getting worse and worse and arthritis has set in in my feet and knees too. Not particularly nice. I've also become a huge klutz, just today catching my foot in the hose of the hoover and tripping, opening the back door and taking half my big toenail off and whacking my very sore hand on a doorframe - hence today's update as I've been relegated to bed for an hour at least because everytime I cry out, Steph comes running in case it's labour pains and he's fed up!! He's trying to clean the kitchen and apparently can't get anything done while I'm 'hippopotamussing' (his word, not mine) around the house.
Right, hands are giving up now.
Keep well all.
xx

I know this is a big pain in the bum...at the moment anyway.
As I have told you...you will forget all of this, when you hear and see and hold your baby...
You have such a wonderful, sacred time in your life about to begin. NOTHING will top it...

Well Em,
You're braver than I was...I had seen childbirth many times, on TV, at work...but when I was actually going to do it myself, I thought about the measurements...
They told me, from the ultrasound my daughter was going to be 8 pounds.... :smt104 ....lets just say thats a polar opposite of where she was to come out of...WHOAH. It turned out she was SIX pounds 7 ounces...still a big WHOAH.
It wasnt only that, the thought of a human being coming out of my body somehow frightened me...but it turned out to be the most amazing thing I've ever been witness to. There are simply no words.
You have a wonderful attitude, and that makes all of the difference. Having such a wonderful, supportive husband that is interested and participates, is also a huge positive. Seems things are going just as they should. Sorry for your pain...your're almost to the finish line. Best Wishes, Sherri
